Parish Outreach

Parish Outreach has served the low-income & needy families of WNY & Nicaragua Missions for over 30 years.  Our program includes a Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, and our Nicaragua Missions work:

~Over 50 volunteers, ages 25-96 work at Parish Outreach during the course of the year including Community Service students from the local high schools, St. Christopher Confirmation classes, and the Amherst Youth Consortium. Volunteers work 3 days a week.

~The Food Pantry serves ~105 families per month comprised of families from the 14228 & part of 14150 zip codes. Families are eligible to come for food and clothing 1 time per month and all families have to be financially eligible for both the Food Pantry & the Clothes Closet.

~The Clothes Closet has registered ~525 in 2017.  We serve families in zip codes that surround the 14150 area. Families can visit the Clothes Closet one time per month. The Clothes Closet is set up like a small boutique and the families are limited to the amount of clothing and items they can take during the year.

~Our Nicaragua Missions work includes packing about 1,800 boxes of clothing, shoes, toys, tools, household items, etc. that are transported to Nicaragua via a semi-truck container.  Our projects for Nicaragua include Hygiene Bundles, Baby Bundles, and sending money to Ann Marie Zon to purchase animals likes cows, chickens, pigs and also, providing monies for rice and other food items for needy families.

In 2017, Parish Outreach built 3 concrete homes in Nicaragua for homeless families. Our Seeds of Love - Nicaragua team has built relationships with individuals in Nicaragua that we are able to work with to accomplish amazing projects like this during the year.

~Special Parish Outreach Projects include Baby Bundles for new babies born to our families; our beautiful Christmas Room where over 430 gift baskets are prepared and our families can select one for their families during the month of December; and the Christmas Wish Tree which provides toys/gift cards for children.

~Collaborating with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, we also assist with the Easter Basket Project and in purchasing household items for families in need.

~Parish Outreach works closely with the Sheridan Drive Lions Club who assist Outreach at the 3 major holidays with Tops gift cards for the families. They also donate readers, sunglasses, and cases that they organize for the Seeds of Love – Nicaragua team.
