Access Faith


This group helps our parish to Open Doors through accessibility, Open Minds by Awareness and Open Hearts to Ministry for and with our brothers and sisters with disabilities. The Access Faith Mission Statement, below, indicates the role this group fulfills for St. Christopher Parish.

Children with Down Syndrome " I Am Who I Am"

We're More Alike Than Different  a group of self-advocates tell the More Alike story in their own words and out of their personal experiences. This video goes right at issues such as the pain inflicted by the "R" word and goes on to show how self-advocates from across the country have made lives for themselves that are, indeed, more alike.

Open Doors by Accessibility

● We will access all parish buildings and communicate what accessibility is available and make recommendations for improvements.

● We will survey parishioners to determine their needs.

● We will educate parishioners on disability etiquette.

● We will welcome parishioners with disabilities to participate in our parish's liturgical,
spiritual, ministerial, educational and social life.

Open Minds by Awareness

● We will utilize all media to provide education on various disabilities to parishioners through
bulletin announcements, flyers, pamphlets and presentations.

● We will communicate information about various social and spiritual events for people with disabilities to our parishioners.

● We will host an Open Doors Liturgy and social.

Open Hearts to Ministry

● We will respond to the needs of our parishioners with disabilities through services,
transportation programs and inclusion in the life of our parish.

● We will encourage people with disabilities to share their talents to help us become the complete Body of Christ.
